Electric Guitar Project

question

For this project, I was asked to create an electric guitar from scratch.

PLAN & Design

For this project, I only have one chance to build this guitar, which means no prototyping, so I had to approach the project differently than usual. Instead of testing ideas, I began working on the actual guitar right away. This meant taking things slowly, being careful with the router bits, and thinking ahead to avoid possible mistakes.

Build & Create

The process of making the electric guitar was divided into stages: assembling the wood for the body, cutting the wood to the basic outline, routering the body, routering the holes for the pickups, routering the electronic holes, creating the neck, assembling the electronics and much more (I'll update in more detail when the guitar is finally finished).

the body

The first picture on the top left is my guitar body, constructed from two separate pieces of wood that I carefully glued and tightly clamped together to create a strong foundation for the start of my project. Since everyone in my class is building their own guitar, we have all our guitars clamped together in the same area which makes this project feel more collaborative and not seem so intimidating. On the bottom, you can see a picture of Mr. Anderson, my Design & Fabrication teacher, demonstrating how to properly put a bit into a router and explaining the correct way to use the machine.
