For this project, we had to interview a client of our choice about what they like to do, who they are as a person, and to get more information about them. Then, we designed 3-5 layers that would end up stacked together as the final product. We designed it on Adobe Illustrator, printed the project for them, and checked in with them along the way to see if it was how they wanted it or if there was anything they wanted to be changed.
I started off the brainstorm stage by interviewing my client, Logan, to find out what kind of product she wanted. I conducted an interview with her and gained some more insight in what she would be interested in. Based on what I gathered in the interview, I decided to make a flower layered design.

At the beginning of the design process, I had several ideas and was uncertain about the type of flower I wanted to create. After exploring different concepts, I decided to settle on a four-petal flower with intricate designs incorporated into each petal. This decision allowed me to focus on adding thoughtful details to each petal, ensuring that the final design was both cohesive and visually appealing. In Adobe Illustrator I used red and blue for two types of cuts: cutting and engraving. Overall, the process of refining my ideas into a single, unified concept was a valuable exercise in creativity and decision-making.

I only had one iteration for this project and I think it turned out really well. I am proud of how my client's vision and my creativity came together to fixing and analyzing the problem during the design process, to eventually produce a final product that exceeded both our expectations. This experience not only tested my problem-solving skills but also reinforced the value of collaboration and perseverance in achieving a successful outcome.

With my laser cut, it turned out exactly how I wanted it to be like and my client was very pleased with the final product. I think the only thing I would have changed would be to make the wood less thick for a light-weight design. Additionally, I would rethink the stacking mechanism to improve its functionality and visual appeal. Otherwise, it was a good execution of what I wanted to create for Logan.
Reflecting on my design, I am very happy with how it turned out because even though there were some challenging times, it was an overall rewarding experience. I'm glad to see the end product was what I was envisioning and that my client is also amazed with the turnout. If I could improve something, I would spend more time adding designs to the whole flower all over, giving the big leaves and center more details. In the end, it was a satisfactory project and I'm proud of myself.
